This standard is equivalent to the international standard IEC 455 (1988), "General rules for the identification of terminal blocks and specific conductor ends of equipment."
This standard specifies various methods for identifying the terminal blocks of electrical equipment (hereinafter referred to as "equipment") and establishes general rules for identifying equipment terminal blocks and specific conductor ends using an alphanumeric system.
This standard applies to the identification marking of terminal blocks of equipment (such as resistors, fuses, relays, contactors, transformers, rotating electrical machines, etc.) and assemblies of such equipment, and also to the identification of specific conductor ends.
Where necessary, detailed applications of these general rules to certain products and necessary auxiliary identification methods may be given in the relevant standards.
