Din 6325 Dowel Drive Pins are interference-fit pins that are driven into a mating hole instead of pressed or slid in. The interference grip locks the pin against rotation, vibration and side load, which is why drive pins are common in rotary and moving applications.
Because the pin is held by the interference fit rather than a thread or a shoulder, the material you choose sets the working limits. Strength, corrosion resistance, weight and temperature all follow the grade.
Material Options
Drive pins come in the grades below; pick by the environment and load the joint must survive.
Aluminum: light, ductile and conductive, with strong resistance to oxidation.
Brass: strong, ductile and conductive, corrosion resistant, with low magnetic permeability.
Stainless steel: high pressure rating, chemical and corrosion resistant.
Hardened and ground steel: quenched or induction hardened into a very hard, though brittle, metal; unhardened steel is more malleable and still suits many applications.
Titanium: strong, with good temperature and corrosion resistance, and about 44 percent lighter than steel.
Dowel Pin Sizing
Two dimensions define the part. Outer diameter is measured across the edges that form the pin width; length is measured on the longest cross section. Send both with your material choice and the drive fit you need.

Applications
Rotary and moving assemblies are the main use: pivot points, hinge and linkage pins, sprocket and gear location, and driven joints where a pin has to stay put under motion. Also used as locating pins in fixtures and light machinery.
