Product Overview

product-1024-893

The DIN6921 Phillips hex flange bolt carries two drives in one head: a Phillips cross recess for a screwdriver or electric driver, and an external hex for a socket wrench - on a flange that does the work of a washer.

On an assembly line that choice decides the pace. A plain hex head needs a socket and room to swing it, and in a narrow recess there is neither, so the joint waits for a different tool or a different bolt.

Here the recess answers the tight spots: the operator drives the bolt with a bit where a socket cannot reach, and falls back on the hex when a joint needs full torque. One fastener covers both stations, and the flange removes the washer from the kit.

Core Advantages

Four points decide whether a bolt keeps pace on a mixed-tool assembly line.

Two Drives In One Head

The Phillips recess takes an electric screwdriver; the hex takes a socket when the joint needs full torque. One part number covers both stations.

Fastening In Tight Spots

Where a socket cannot reach - boxed frames, recessed rails, crowded panels - a screwdriver bit still can, so the joint does not stall for lack of swing clearance.

The Flange Is The Washer

The built-in flange bears on the mating surface and spreads the clamping load. The washer disappears from the drawing, the kit and the bench motion.

A Grade For Every Load

4.8 for light assemblies, 8.8 for machine frames, 10.9 for critical joints - with zinc or yellow zinc plating against corrosion.

A Dual-Drive Flange Bolt vs A Plain Hex Head Bolt

The comparison that decides this purchase is not strength - a plain hex bolt of the same grade is just as strong. It is what happens at the tool.

What Changes This Dual-Drive Flange Bolt Plain Hex Head Bolt
Tool in a tight spot A Phillips bit reaches where a socket cannot The socket needs swing clearance, or the job stalls
High-torque joints The external hex still takes a full socket Native
Washer Built into the flange A separate washer to buy, stock and place
Bearing surface The flange spreads the load over a wider face The hex face only, unless a washer is added
Line pace Driven by electric screwdriver, no tool swap Socket work throughout
Parts per joint One part number Two, counting the washer

Application Scenarios

Three settings where the drive under the head decides the pace.

Assembly-Line Equipment

Fixture and frame building worked station by station with electric screwdrivers, where sockets only come out for the final torque pass.

Automotive Electrical And Interiors

Bracket and panel joints inside crowded cavities, where access favors a bit over a socket and rework is expensive.

General Mechanical Assembly

Machine builds and enclosures that mix light, quick joints with a few high-torque ones - the two drives cover both without changing fasteners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why put a Phillips recess on a bolt this size?

A: Because the bottleneck on a line is rarely torque - it is access and tool changes. The recess lets an operator drive the bolt with the driver already in hand, and the hex remains for the joints that need a socket.

Q: Does the flange replace a washer?

A: In most joints, yes. The flange bears on the mating surface and spreads the clamp load, so the washer drops out of the drawing and the kit. Where a joint still needs one, a separate-washer arrangement can be quoted to drawing.

Q: How do we test before committing to volume?

A: Send the thread size, grade and finish. One or two sample pieces are free for testing, custom lengths or grades are built to drawing or sample, and the quotation follows the confirmed specification.
