As pressing begins, the knurls make initial contact with the panel surface, displace the host material, and allow the barrel to rest completely flush. Under proper installation force, the displaced metal flows directly into the undercut groove. Once fully seated, removing the shank requires a push-out force comparable to the original insertion load.
